This very special edition of Holy Grounds Coffee House will celebrate the installation of “1,000 Cranes for World Peace Day” at Hartford Seminary. Come see how visionary Hartford artist Ann Cubberly will display our combined origami-making efforts.
We will meet in the lobby at 3 p.m. to hear Christian, Jewish and Muslim reflections on the symbolic nature of birds and peace. Cake to follow!
This event is free and open to the public.
Of the 1,000 cranes on display, more than 100 were donated by students from Indiana University East in Richmond, IN. A librarian at the university heard about Hartford Seminary’s project and asked if their students could donate cranes. The students eventually made 1,000 cranes of their own as well. Below are photos of some of the Indiana students who helped with the project.
